  • Adversity

    John 6:53-71

"Lord, to whom would we go? You have words of eternal life."
    John 6:68b (NASB)

The journey with Jesus is not always a stroll in the park.  We all know that there will be times of great joy, but there will also be times of testing and sorrow.  Ideally, we all would love to follow so close to Christ that the dust of His sandals would fly up in our faces.  Sometimes, being that close can be uncomfortable.  God has called us to do some difficult things.  He wants us to live a life of total abandonment to His cause.  Sometimes when we stop to hear what He has to say, it's too jarring for us.  When the price is too great, many people wander off in another direction.  How will we react when the going gets tough?

  • Rain

    Matthew 7:24-29

"Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock.  And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock."
    Matthew 7:24-25

The most important part of most homes can't be seen.  It's the part of the home that is underground, the foundation.  If it's not level, solid, and sturdy, the house will inevitably have problem after problem.  It will never hold up to violent storms or the wear and tear of time.  In our walk with the Lord, we can build up a solid foundation.  By doing so we are able to tackle any strong storm thrown our way.  Our spiritual lives will be able to stand the test or time.
